The Seaford Police Department is working alongside community partners through the Seaford Community Outreach & Recovery Initiative (SCORI) to connect individuals and families affected by substance use with recovery resources, support services, and other community-based assistance.
SCORI brings together law enforcement, peer support, behavioral health professionals, and community partners with the goal of helping individuals access the resources they need while supporting a safer and healthier community.
Through partnership with Community Collaborations of Delaware, peer support specialists work alongside Seaford Police Department officers to provide outreach, support, and connections to services. The initiative is funded through Round 3 of the Delaware Prescription Opioid Settlement Distribution Fund.
Initial program data, analyzed on September 12th, 2026, includes information collected during the months of August and September 2026. During this period, 55 individuals were served through SCORI.
Of those served:
•85% received peer support services
•83% were experiencing homelessness
•59% were connected to SCORI through street outreach
•15 individuals were referred to other services
•13% agreed to other treatment
The data also highlights the complex needs many individuals are experiencing. 43 clients reported substance abuse needs, 36 reported mental health needs, and 49 reported housing needs. Some individuals experienced more than one of these needs at the same time.
The Seaford Police Department is grateful to all of the community partners who are working together to provide outreach, support, and pathways to recovery for members of our community.
SCORI is one part of the continued effort to strengthen connections between individuals in need and the resources available to help them.
