Public notice is hereby given that the City of Seaford will be submitting an application for funding for the 2024 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) to the U.S. Department of Justice. The JAG program is the primary provider of Federal criminal justice funding for eligible state and local jurisdictions to support a wide range of crime prevention and intervention activities based on local needs and conditions. This solicitation is for a disparate of Sussex County agencies, with recommended allocations of $16,471.00 to the City of Seaford.

Projected use of funds for the City’s JAG application will be for the purchase of a KONTEX Mobile Modular Shoot House (MMSH).

The Mobile Modular Shoot House, developed by Kontek, is an innovative training solution for law enforcement designed to facilitate realistic Close Quarters Combat (CQB) scenarios. This advanced training environment allows tactical teams to engage in hands-on exercises without the need for live fire. Its modular design enables rapid setup and reconfiguration, allowing training environments to adapt to evolving operational needs.

Investing in the Mobile Modular Shoot House offers several key advantages for our police department:

  • Enhanced Realism: Provides diverse training scenarios that closely mimic real-life situations, preparing officers for high-stress encounters.
  • Rapid Deployment and Flexibility: The quick assembly and reconfiguration of layouts keep training dynamic and engaging.
  • Cost-Effective Training: With low maintenance and no consumable costs, this solution leads to a low total cost of ownership for ongoing tactical training.
  •  Versatile Applications: Supports simunitions and K9 training, effectively replicating structures for specific SWAT operations.
  • Storage and Transport Efficiency: Easily disassembled and palletized, it allows for convenient storage and transport, enabling flexible training locations.

By integrating the Mobile Modular Shoot House into our training regimen, we enhance operational readiness and optimize resource use, ultimately improving public safety outcomes. Programmatic and budgetary details will be outlined in the grant application.

This application will be available for review by contacting Chief Marshal Craft at the Seaford Police Department located at 300 Virginia Avenue, Seaford Delaware 19973. Please direct any comments regarding this application to the above address or via email at [email protected].
