The City of Seaford Police Department’s Seasonal Police Cadet Program is a part-time, non-sworn, uniform position that will fall under our administrative support services division.
The cadet(s) will work under the general supervision of our administrative staff sergeant, Valerie Horn.
Some of their duties will include:
- Downtown foot and bicycle patrols
- Traffic control and crossing guard duties as needed
- City ordinance violations / parking violations
- Reports
- civil matters
- other minor offenses, such as shoplifting
- Fingerprinting and booking of non-violent offenders
- Assisting with community events / youth academy
- and other duties as assigned
CADETS WILL NOT BE PERFORMING DUTIES IDENTIFIED AS HIGH-RISK
Minimum Qualifications:
- H/S Grad, GED, and/or graduating senior that is able to attend training every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday beginning April 21, 2023, and ending Sunday May 14, 2023.
- Able to pass a written and physical fitness test, drug screening, physical exam, and psychological exam.
Seasonal Cadets will be trained in accordance with Delaware 801 Regulations and will earn $17.00 / hour, up to 29 hours/week for approximately 20 weeks.
Our part-time seasonal cadets will be assigned:
- OC Spray
- ASP Baton
- Handcuffs
- Flashlight
- Portable Radio
- Ballistic Vest
CADETS WILL NOT BE ASSIGNED A FIREARM
